For The Children of The World is a non-profit organization whose mission is to offer care, compassion, and hope to children and families in need by providing humanitarian aid worldwide.
For more than 15 years we have been doing this by providing a summer health respite in the Seattle area to children from areas contaminated by the Chernobyl disaster. We have offered hosting opportunities to children from Belarus and Ukraine.
More than twenty years after the Chernobyl disaster, most people have forgotten the worst nuclear accident in our history. But for more than 750,000 children in the most contaminated areas, Chernobyl is an everyday reality. The children there suffer from a constant bombardment of low-level radioactivity, often live with limited employment, poor wages and rampant inflation, and in many cases, inadequate nutrition. Medical professionals have reported that a six-week stay in a clean environment with good nutrition can begin to flush out the damage done by constant radiation exposure and add years to a child’s life span. It is our hope that you too will take this message to heart and help these children who can not help themselves.
